ALUMINIUM HYDROXIDES

In our portfolio you will find one crystalline and various amorphous aluminium hydroxide products with various specific properties.

GECEDRAL® TM

  • crystalline aluminium hydroxide, very fine grain (d50 ≈1 µm), purely mineral, high degree of whiteness
  • functional filler with active surface for the paint industry, construction industry, specially bonded & glued systems (e.g. abrasives)
  • insoluble in neutral and under mildly acidic and mildly alkaline conditions in aqueous solution
  • paints and varnishes: high-quality filler with an active surface, can enable a thixotropic thickening (i.e. of the resting system) due to its special structure
  • construction industry: additive for adjusting the flow behaviour of cement or lime-cement based plasters (without setting acceleration)
  • flame retardant effect and smoke suppression on an inorganic basis (halogen-free, environmentally friendly)

GECEDRAL® BZ 111

  • specially precipitated, amorphous aluminium hydroxide, very fine grain, purely mineral, optimized solubility in slightly acidic or alkaline environments, high degree of whiteness
  • very effective setting and hardening accelerator for cement-bound plasters, mortars and concretes, effective even in very low doses; adjustable to retard the hardening
  • CE approval for use as a construction product (EN 934)

GECEDRAL® L

  • specially precipitated, amorphous aluminium hydroxide
  • very fine grain, purely mineral,optimized solubility in slightly acidic or alkaline environments
  • very effective setting and hardening accelerator for cement-bound plasters, mortars, joint mortars and concrete, effective even in very low doses, even for dry-mix shotcrete
  • CE approval for use as a construction product (EN 934)

Aluminium hydroxide NF

  • amorphous aluminium hydroxide, very fine grain, purely mineral, high degree of whiteness
  • optimized refractive index for oil-based paints
  • functional filler with active surface for the paint and plastics industries, among others

Aluminium Hydroxide NF – for use in the printing ink sector

Aluminium Hydroxide NF can be processed in the usual binders and printing ink varnishes to form transparent or semi-transparent dispersions.

Aluminium Hydroxide NF produced by ALUCOM regulates the consistency, i.e. it increases the viscosity of the printing ink and thus its hiding power.

An essential factor for the successful use of Aluminium Hydroxide NF is its compatibility with the printing oils or ink varnishes, which can be mixtures or boils of different components. In the case of very expensive or strong pigments, or to correct printing cylinders that have been etched too deeply, the incorporation of transparent Aluminium Hydroxide NF can weaken the colour intensity.

Aluminium Hydroxide NF also prevents or delays the settling of heavy inorganic colour pigments in low-viscosity systems due to its viscosity-increasing effect. It has a stabilizing effect on the colour. Aluminium Hydroxide NF positively influences the drying capacity of printed inks.

In contrast to many naturally occurring fillers, our Aluminium Hydroxide NF is very soft. Its abrasive effect is negligible. Therefore, impression cylinders, offset plates, etc. are protected and high print runs are achieved.
